Your personal statement is critical when you have limited experience — it sets the tone for everything that follows. Keep it honest, specific, and forward-looking:
"Recent biomedical science graduate from the University of Birmingham (2:1) with a particular interest in oncology research and laboratory diagnostics. Completed a 3-month placement at Birmingham Women's NHS Trust, where I assisted with haematological analysis and blood culture processing. Don't apologise for your lack of experience in your personal statement. Acknowledge your career stage confidently and focus on what you bring — curiosity, technical skills, relevant academic knowledge, and enthusiasm to learn.
